Gonzalez
Born in Cuba. Forged in Miami. Educated at Parsons School of Design and Miami International University of Art and Design — with additional studies in Journalism, Communications, and Broadcasting at FIU and the Art Institute of Miami — Yas Gonzalez is one of the most accomplished independent fashion designers to emerge from South Florida. She built House of Yas from a warehouse atelier into an internationally recognized brand, designing custom pieces for the Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, Premios Juventud, Premio Lo Nuestro, Billboard Latin Music Awards, and Latin Billboard Awards. Her collections have walked runways at Miami Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Week, Milan, London, Vancouver, and Paris, and her designs have been worn by Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, La India, Pitbull, and Ricky Martin. In 2024, Miss Universe Victoria Kjaer chose her Celia Cruz Tribute dress for a landmark appearance at the Gary Nader Art Centre in Miami. British Vogue named her a Rising Star. Miami Fashion Week awarded her Best Brand Narrative in 2026. A published author of the university-level fashion textbook The Art of Fashion: A Yas Gonzalez Method, she is also the founder of The Yas Gonzalez Foundation — supporting emerging artists and children with autism through the arts — and a board member of Fashion Group International South Florida. Her work is rooted in the conviction that fashion carries memory, culture, and the stories a people cannot afford to forget.

Babastro
Born in Morón, Ciego de Ávila, Cuba in 1989, Asiel Babastro is a filmmaker, visual artist, screenwriter, photographer, and art director whose work moves between cinema, fine art, and cultural resistance. He studied plastic arts in Morón, trained in film direction, drama, and screenwriting at the Higher Institute of Arts (ISA) and the International Film and Television School (EICTV) in Cuba, and has built a body of work that spans continents and disciplines. In 2021, he directed the music video for "Patria y Vida" — the protest anthem that became the soundtrack of Cuba's most significant uprising since 1959, accumulating over nine million views and earning a Latin Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. The video made international headlines and cost Babastro his right to ever return to Cuba. His multimedia works have been exhibited at Art Basel Miami and shown in private collections across Germany, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. His photographs have appeared on magazine covers and his poetry has been published in Cuban literary journals. He is the founder and creative director of Alternativo Art, and as Art Director of House of Yas he shapes the visual identity of every campaign — treating the garment as canvas and the body as the final brushstroke. His collaboration with Yas Gonzalez — Babastro x Yas — premiered at the 4th Annual Fashion Showcase & Latin American Art & Photography Exhibition in Wynwood, and their landmark ECTOMORFOS collection is set to debut at Art Basel Miami 2026.
