Babastro x Yas: The Body as the Final Brushstroke

Two Cuban artists, one canvas: ECTOMORFOS Vol. 1 debuts at Art Basel Miami 2026.

One paints. One cuts. Both were born on the same island, and both left it carrying the same unfinished sentence.

Babastro x Yas is the collaboration between Yas Gonzalez and Asiel Babastro — the filmmaker and visual artist who directed “Patria y Vida,” the anthem that cost him the right to return to Cuba. Their joint work treats the garment as canvas and the body as the final brushstroke: fashion built from his paintings of ethereal human figures, cloth that behaves like pigment still wet.

The first chapter, ECTOMORFOS Vol. 1, debuts at Art Basel Miami in December 2026 — a collection conceived as living art, shown the way paintings are shown, worn the way convictions are worn.

Fashion meets fine art. The film is coming.
